Although there are still only two weeks until the new Marvel movie “Eternals” hits theatres, the film premiere was on Monday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The event was attended by the sensational cast that made up the new UCM film project: Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, among others.
Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know before watching Eternal, plus a big reveal that will take place in one of the two post-credits scenes that director Chloe Zhao describes as “big surprises”.

Not All Heroes Are Part of the Eternals
Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features a new team of superheroes described in the official synopsis as ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against humanity’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.
However, not all the heroes in the film are part of the Eternals. One of the heroes announced to be part of the new Marvel film is Black Knight, the version of Dane Whitman, who Kit Harington will play.
Who Will Be the Main Villains?
The Deviants are the main villains, or at least the ones shown in the trailers. In the comics, the Deviants have the exact origin as the Eternals, as they are a race of monstrous humanoids created by the Celestials as part of their process of bringing intelligent life to Earth. They have been mentioned before in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Sex Change of Some Characters in the Film
Those more familiar with the comics had no problem recognising the characters and seeing how director Chloé Zhao (who won a couple of Oscars for her film Nomadland) decided to apply, alter or evolve the skills presented in the script.
Three of the main characters in the comics have their gender reversed in the film version. Makkari, Sprite and Ajak are played by Lauren Ridloff, Lia McHugh and Salma Hayek, respectively.
What Will The Storyline Look Like in Eternals?
In the comic book, the Eternals storyline spans across thousands of years. However, Marvel said that the movie will tell the story across two time periods considering its sprawling storyline.
One of those is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second is in the present when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight.
Who Will Play Eros?
This is one of the big revelations from Monday’s post-credits scenes at the premiere of Eternals, as everyone has been talking about it. Rumours has it that British singer and actor Harry Styles would be in the cast of Eternals playing Eros or Starfox, the brother of Thanos.
Eros was first introduced within the Marvel comic books in 1973. He has appeared as a member of the Eternals, the Avengers and the Dark Guardians within the comics.
Matt Donnelly Senior film writer for Variety, tweet a confirmation that Styles appears: “Big reveal from #TheEternals premiere — Harry Styles has joined the MCU as Eros, brother of Thanos”.
