As Harry Style’s song said, Mark Zuckerberg’s social networks WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram has “falling again”! But this time was for too long, generating media paranoia. The cause of the failure was not explained for several hours.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience”, Facebook said in a tweet.
On the other hand, Downdetector, a site specialising in tracking platform outages, recorded around 80,000 bug reports on WhatsApp and more than 50,000 from Facebook.
What caused the crash that took us out in a flash?
Experts say that in the case of Facebook services, it was a DNS (Domain Name System) error.
DNS translates domain names into IP addresses so that browsers can load Internet resources. Each site has a unique IP address. The errors are usually due to changes in the network infrastructure, in this case, Facebook, causing a domino effect on all the social networks that own this platform.
What do users think?
While waiting for an official response from Zuckerberg’s company, internet users did not waste any time bringing different conspiracy theories about the global event into the conversation. Among these is the idea that the crash is at the hands of Anonymous.
According to users, the aim of the failure is for a massive hack to extract information from different government groups. A tweet published from an alleged account of the cyberactivists announced the supposed reason for the fall of the three social networks. However, it was never confirmed whether it is an official account of the gang mentioned above.
So, what do you think caused the downfall of the Zuckerberg trinity?
