Manchester United have made official what has been an open secret in recent hours: the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £73m plus incentives.
The 21-year-old English winger is embarking on a new adventure in the Premier League! This club has been pining for his signature for a couple of years, and now it is a reality. He leaves the Bundesliga, having played 104 games scoring 38 goals and providing 51 assists.
Jadon Sancho is one of the most promising players globally and was the object of desire of several clubs, but finally, it has been the Manchester club that has acquired his services. A luxury reinforcement for a 2021-22 season looks exciting with the team’s return to the Champions League.
In the coming days, as reported by the club, he will undergo a medical sign until 2026. After that, he will be presented with the Old Trafford team once Euro 2020 is over, where the player will seek the semi-finals with England this Saturday against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund also confirmed the transfer. However, they are not very happy: “We are not happy about the money but sad that he is leaving,” said Dortmund’s managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Sancho joined Dortmund in 2017 from Manchester City’s youth set-up. Dortmund must now pay City 15% of whatever they receive from Sancho’s transfer to Manchester United.
In his last game for Dortmund, the German Cup final against RB Leipzig, Sancho scored two goals in the 4-1 final.
