Disney’s Jungle Cruise was a huge success since its release, like everything made by Disney. It crosses the $100 million markers at the domestic box office, and thanks to this, Disney is cooking a sequel. As you can imagine, Dwayne Johnson is coming back for his role, alongside Emily Blunt. Another one that is coming back is the director Jaume Collet-Serra.
With Jaume and Michel Green – the mastermind behind the script – back, and the biggest stars in the project, we are ready for another success. The movie based on the theme ride and Disneyland and Disney World catch us by surprise after it became a huge success. So many critics and even fans didn’t expect it to be so good, so well received, especially after the rise of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
What do we know about this sequel?
After 15 years of development, the movie is finally making its way to the screen. Disney was thinking about this debut for a long time, and we expect something big. The last film wasn’t as big as we believe, but slowly it made its way up to the box office. Audiences have given the movie an A- on CinemaScore, and it has garnered an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Other than what we already said, many people think this is a leap of faith from Disney. The sequel will involve the theme ride more; however, the studio hasn’t said anything. Supposing the sequel sees the light and reaches the theaters; in that case, this will be the first non-MCU, non-Lucasfilm cinematic franchise Disney release since National Treasure.
