If you aren’t aware of one of the nicest campaigns on the internet right now, you live under a rock. Meghan Markle celebrated her 40th birthday by asking famous for participating in her 40×40 challenge. The challenge consists in a commitment to provide mentorship for women that are reentering the workforce.
Not only this is an amazing way to use your network to provide happiness to others, but it’s also a good campaign nowadays. A lot of women – and men, and people – lost their jobs due to COVID-19. So Megan and 40 high-profile friends want to support her efforts and help women strengthen their financial status and regain their independence.
What is the 40×40 challenge?
On Wednesday, August 4, her 40th birthday, Markle posted a video to her Archewell Foundation’s website. In the video featuring herself and Melissa McCarthy, she asks fans and supporters to join her cause. Anyone who wants to participate – alongside 40 of her friends – will donate 40 minutes of their time. During those 40 minutes, they will “help mentor a woman who’s mobilizing back into the workforce”.
Markle said about the campaign, “I believe mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength. For my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists and world leaders to help kick off a global effort, by contributing 40 minutes of mentorship, to support women re-entering the workforce”.
With this, she is clear that her ultimate goal is “To help someone advance a professional life on her own terms. I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well”. Plenty of their friends – like Priyanka Chopra – joined her already, supporting Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry.
