Since its launch, it has sold over 10 million units. Many gamers have been hunting for this console, while other PlayStation 5 fans prefer to wait before buying it or any of its components because ideally these would be found at a better price. Buys are being delayed due to low stock on the market.
According to Sony, the PlayStation 5 shortage will continue for several months and even extend into 2022. It was also stated that keeping up with the high demand is a difficult task. Due to the pandemic, it becomes difficult to work and produce at 100%.
However, Sony will continue to work proactively and positively for the development of more consoles with as few problems as possible. Quite contrary to what the company’s chief financial officer says. Hiroki Totoki expressed that “The shortage will remain high regardless of the pandemic, as the brand is currently very popular”.
Sony has a plan to keep a good number of consoles in stock. This involves changing some of the hardware components and contracting more sources of supply. In other words, PlayStation 5 would undergo minor modifications to increase production. Sony claims that these changes will not affect its power or design. Supposedly these changes will make manufacturers perform at a higher level as there will be more raw materials to make more consoles.
Many other gaming consoles, such as Nintendo and Xbox have commented that they’ve had a lot of trouble meeting demands. The stock problem will continue to be seen throughout 2021.
