Sex Education
If you like coming-of-age films, or whatever that can teach you a thing or two about sex, this is it. Sex Education is a masterpiece of teenage drama that combines sex, funny teenagers, and lovely, relatable moments. The whole series is about Ottis, a virgin teen that has to endure this living with a sex therapist.
Overall there are a lot of funny moments and a lot of actually good sex education. Most of the tips they share here can be used in real life and all the characters have amazing stories. All of this been said, the humor is always on top – wink, wink – so don’t miss it.
Peaky Blinders
Series that show you the – almost real – life of a local family of gangsters are always good. Most of the series is set in during World War I, so you can expect mostly accurate historical facts. If you are into historical fiction, heavy action, drama, and very complex storylines, you must watch this show.
The OST is pure gold too. Most of the action scenes are paired with really good British rock, boosting the action a lot. That, combined with the attitude and the way the show handles the character’s growth, makes an amazing show.
The Crown
You probably already heard about this show, especially because is about the royal family. Right now there is a lot of polemical news about this family; however, their story is worth it. We will see the story before Queen Elizabeth II became the cultural icon she is nowadays, and how she came to be.
Right now the seasons have reached the polemical story about Princess Diana of Wales. This means the Crown tells us the story of the royal family so far. In other words, we will be able to see the story behind a lot of polemics and real British history events. We must say, though, that this is an interpretation, which means some facts aren’t completely faithful.
The End of the F***ing World
Based on a very chaotic comic, you can expect that a lot is going on in this show. Both protagonist characters aren’t relatable yet you will root for them and most of the show makes philosophical questions. Even though there is a lot of thought in the script and dialogues, most of the series is based on it’s dark humor.
If we continue telling you what you can expect from this show, we will spoil it. However, we can say, spoiler-free, that there is a lot of poor judgment and life choices in this series. If you are in a bad spot and you need to feel better, give this series a try.
Black Mirror
Nowadays we can’t live without technology, smart gadgets, and devices in our hands. And the writers of this show exploit those facts and show us the dark side of these technological advances. If this isn’t enough, they do this in a fictional future most of the time, showing us what could be our future.
We won’t say that it’s a horror show, but it could be one. There is a lot of thought put on the scrip of every episode and most of the show raises a lot of questions. If you want to have an existential crisis and rant about how technology might be bad, watch it.
Feel Good
Being funny isn’t about comedy itself, but how we make fun of our own situations. Feel Good is all about this and the crisis we can live in trying to overcome our demons. Here, we will follow the life of an ex-addict comedian and her relationship with a seemingly straight girl. The show is brutal and very realistic in a lot of things, so be careful when you watch it.
Skins
We are sure that you already watched this classic, timeless, teenage show. Skins was a bomb during its premiere and still is a very popular show. A lot of the drama they portrait in the series it’s still relatable –this speaks a lot about our evolution as a society. Also, the characters are still amazing and every episode from until season 4 is pure gold.
Top Boy
If you ever heard of Top Boy before, you probably know about the original series. However, both series have the same premise: Drug dealers and how they do their job. In this one we will focus on the gang leader, drug lord, Jamie; how he manages his life with the fact that he is, well, a successful “business” man.
When Drake took the show he said “let’s make this a big deal”, and he did. The cast’s full of stars, the script is always amazing, and overall, it’s full of action. We recommend you to watch the previous show if you want context for this one.
Crashing
If you are a millennial and you are looking for millennial humor, this is your show. Before Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge was already making shows that made fun of misery and roommates. You will see a lot of it with this group of twenty-something trying to, well, make life choices that won’t ruin their life.
