We hear a lot about Depp and Amber Heard during the last weeks because of what happened during court. Right now, we don’t know exactly where to stand because there is a he-said-she-said situation. From a neutral viewpoint, he is trying to prove his innocence. However, there is a lot of evidence proving otherwise.
Even though some proven facts have come to light, Hollywood wouldn’t acknowledge any of them. This case, in particular, isn’t easy because there is a lot of evidence proving the mistreatment to be mutual. We are not defending anybody, but we must point out some of the consequences of cancellation culture.
What did Johnny say?
According to Depp’s side of the story, he is being boycotted by Hollywood after losing his libel case against The Sun. And since then, on repeated occasions, he was asked to resign from Fantastic Beasts. Still, he shows proof of molestations on both sides of the story.
His newest film, Minamata, doesn’t have a release date yet in the USA. Nevertheless, he says, “I believe we’ve kept our end of the bargain, but those who came in later should also maintain theirs”. Depp admitted that he is still holding out for the film to be in cinemas.
However, he also believes this film will reach people’s hearts, as he says, “Some films touch people, and this affects those in Minamata and people who experience similar things”.
Are there other statements?
Movie director Andrew Levitas accused studio MGM of burying the film. In his open letter, Andrew points out that MGM failed their moral obligation to release the movie, denying the right of the victims to expose the situation. He says, “Why do you think an actor’s personal life is more important than their children”.
